This workshop is designed and structured for students who have had no previous experience, and for those with some knowledge of the crafts associated with decorative paint techniques to gain a more in-depth understanding of the ancient art of faux stone paint techniques.
Over the course of the day, you will become comfortable and proficient in using the paints and glazes used to master these skills. Before starting on the practice boards you will be given a detailed explanation of the correct use of primers and base coats to be applied to a variety of surfaces and you will then prepare and basecoat the sample boards. Whilst the boards are drying, Simon will give a demonstration of some of the stone techniques that you will be introduced to.
You will then be guided through the different stages used to create professional looking faux stone effects in a number of styles and then shown the correct use and application of varnishes and sealants used to protect and enhance your work.
