Multiblock printing revolutionized printmaking, allowing more colour and detail to be given to an image.
During this course you will create a ‘multiblock print’ consisting of two blocks carved from wood or traditional lino, which together form a layered image.
Learn how to design and cut firstly a ‘foreground’ or ‘key’ block and then create the complimentary ‘background’ block.
Learn the techniques of registering and transferring of a composition over the two blocks.
Tutoring also given on the suitable usage of colours and ink density for multiblock printing; with focus on the ‘layering’ effects of colours.
The course is suitable for those who have attended an introduction course in wood or lino printmaking, and wish to learn a further technique.
