Copperplate calligraphy
Saturday 10 September 2022
Copperplate is also known as English Round Hand, developed from Italic in the seventeenth century. This beautiful script is written with a pointed nib and relies on the slant of the letterform and pressure and release of the pen to create its graceful shapes.
At this workshop we will look carefully at the basic shapes of Copperplate, the constant angle at which it is written and the pressure and release that is required to write it. Copperplate is an elegant, flourishing script which is most pleasant to write, beautiful to see and lovely to use on greetings cards, invitations and scrolls.
