Festive Family Workshop: Make Your Own Clay Christmas Decorations
Sunday 7 December 2025
Step into the festive spirit with a hands-on family workshop where you’ll design and create your very own clay Christmas tree decorations, inspired by the much-loved carol The Twelve Days of Christmas. (Each decoration will be approx. 12cm tall.)
Together, we’ll explore the fascinating origins of the song and discover how its meaning has evolved over the centuries. You’ll then start drawing up your own designs, with guidance from our tutor who will demonstrate how to transfer your sketches onto clay to form a beautiful hanging decoration. Prefer a little extra help? Templates will also be available to spark inspiration.
Each participant will have the chance to make two unique decorations, which you’ll colour using vibrant brush-on glazes to bring your creations to life. Your finished pieces will be carefully kiln-fired by the tutor and can be collected from the Weald and Downland Museum once ready
£30 per person. Children must be aged 6 years and over and be accompanied by one adult. If the adult would also like to make clay Christmas decorations, please buy an additional ticket. Any additional adults must purchase an entry ticket for the day. Fee includes entry to the Museum for those who want to stay and explore further after the workshop.
