This course acts as an introduction to the techniques and skills needed for chair making. The day begins with a discussion on different seating constructions and designs. A short foray into the museum woods will explore sustainable management of woodlands for timber requirements and the artistic potential of using natural form, shape and texture.
Using traditional tools and techniques students then create an elegant stool to take home, gaining the experience and knowledge needed to progress to creating their own original designs acting as the ideal stepping stone for chair making potential.
