Make a clay Green Man or Lady of the Woods sculpture - family art workshop

Friday 04 August 2023

This ticket covers one adult and one child as a pair.

Looking for something different to do during the summer holiday? Why not bring your parent, guardian, grandparent, older sibling or favourite adult to the Weald and Downland Living Museum for a fun creative workshop inspired by nature.

The workshop will begin with a short walk in the woods where you will have a chance to get up close to nature and find out about the ancient origins of the Green Man of the Woods. Then it’s back to classroom to learn how to bring clay to life by sculpting a face and making beautiful leaves by impressing foliage into the clay.

By the end of the Course you will have made a unique Green Man or Lady. You may either take your piece home with you to air dry or the tutor will take your piece away to kiln fire it. Your fired piece will then be available for collection from the Weald and Downland Museum a few weeks later. This option will incur an additional cost of £10 for both pieces. This is payable when booking the course, £65 instead of £55.

Your fired piece will be available for collection from Weald and Downland Living Museum a few weeks later.
